According to Night Stalkers, they are tested in locations like Iraq, Afghanistan, and Burma. I was really excited to see if this knife would be able to hold up to my expectations.

As soon as it arrived from Amazon, I knew right away that this was a superior quality knife. Just by looking at it I was able to tell that there was a lot of craftsmanship put into it and this knife wasn’t just some cheap trinket that would be destroyed within a year.

When I pick it up, it always feels solid in my hands and has a full tang. Once I began to examine the blade, like I am prone to do, it was sharp out of the box and much thicker than the other knives that I have, which proves that it is superior quality and could handle abuse that I was fixing to throw at it.

The best parts were the fact that it came with a diamond textured rubber grip and the steel riveted double nylon belt loop sheath. Since I tend to walk most of the places in the wild, I figured that this would be a good part of the deal.

This knife is great and it was pretty obvious that there was a lot of attention to detail given to the design and comes at a great price. It was made with intention of it being used, since the focus on the testing and the design. The survival knife that you select doesn’t have to be heavy or large to be effective and made for survival situations. Overall the Maxam Survival knife has a lot of good qualities like the saw blade knife that will last for a long time and actually take plenty of abuse. It is a good purchase even though it has a few issues.  Personally, I prefer the Rambo First Blood knife or the Rambo 2 knife.  Another option is the USA Defenders Military Survival Knife Bundle with Fire Starter & Compass.

This is a pretty impressive knife. Whenever you purchase it, you need to decide what you are buying it for. Is it for looks or functionality? If you happen to be purchasing it for a collection, then there are no issues and to go with it. It looks great, but it just seems to be created more for showing off than for any type of functionality.

Firstly, it is a huge knife. It is almost 16.5 inches long and that means that it is just an inch shy of being a machete. The knife has good weight to it and it seems to be perfect to use.

There are a few issues with it though. The Marine Force Recon thing sounds pretty awesome when you are purchasing it. Once I seen it and being part of the military, I can tell you right away that no soldier would even carry this knife due to the size. It is too impractical to carry. The Force Recon logo is too gaudy. That is why I used OD green tape to cover it up. Anything that is gaudy on a knife will render it non-tactical. That is why I stated that it seems to be built to show off. Also if you plan to use it, then you will need to spend plenty of time with a sharpener because when you get it, it’s not very sharp at all.

It is pretty good when it comes to be ergonomical. The handle was built with a good design and I don’t believe that if you were in a serious situation that it would slip out of your hand. That is one issue that I have had in the past with most bowie knives. The handles often have very little grip and if you are in a combat situation with a human or animal, they can slip out of your hand quite easily. Even though most people will never be in those types of situations, but having a good survival knife just in case means that if you had to you would be able to do some serious damage to your attacker.  It can be purchased here.

When it comes to the steel, I am not an expert so there is no need to comment on it. People are able to argue about the grade of steel daily, but the truth is only time will tell if it is good or not.

The sheath is pure garbage. It is bulky and made from black nylon that has a liner to protect the blade.
